Falls of the Ohio State Park and Interpretive Center Interesting : Michelin's recommendations

It was from this point in the Ohio River, in 1803, that Lewis and Clark launched their epic expedition to the Pacific Ocean. Today the adjacent banks and bottom areas of this peaceful park, just across the Ohio River from downtown Louisville, contain some of the richest Devonian fossil deposits in the world. The park's striking contemporary Interpretive Center is constructed of tiers of limestone and multicolored bricks, mirroring the fossil beds it interprets. Inside, the film Spirit of the Land documents the beginning of the Lewis and Clark expedition. Exhibits here trace the evolution of the fossil beds, formed more than 400 million years ago when warm, tropical seas covered the area.
