Indian Pueblo Cultural Center Recommended Recommended : Michelin's recommendations

The arts of New Mexico's 19 Pueblo communities are exhibited at this important nonprofit center a mile from Old Town. Modeled after 9C Pueblo Bonito in Chaco Culture National Historical Park, this is the one place to get an overview of cultures as presented by the Indians themselves, not interpreted by Anglos. The Indian Pueblo Cultural Museum exhibits ancient artifacts and contemporary weavings, jewelry, pottery and paintings-each piece individually chosen for display by tribal members-that trace the development of Pueblo cultures. Pottery designs are unique to each pueblo. Traditional dancers perform weekends on an outdoor stage, and artisans demonstrate various crafts. Crafts displayed for sale in the extensive exhibit halls are priced lower than most gift shops. The Pueblo Harvest Café serves breakfast and lunch daily.
