Now owned by Whatcom County, this substantial 1908 sandstone-and-brick home was built by Victor Roeder, son of one of the county's pioneering settlers, Henry Roeder. The house exemplifies what was considered the most modern of features for its time, including a house-wide vacuum system, brass light fixtures with Steuben glass shades and an original furnace made from a Great Northern Railway boiler. The dining room is decorated with romantic wall murals and oak paneling. The spare furnishings reflect the period; only two pieces, a parlor couch and a hall cabinet, are original to the home. An upstairs gallery hosts changing art exhibits.
