One of the major US museums dedicated to women, this $25 million facility opened in late 2000 to highlight 19C-21C female achievements in culture, commerce, politics, science and the arts. Though its mission is significant, the museum is also lots of fun: Visitors get huge enjoyment from a video depicting famed comediennes, for instance. Temporary exhibits tend toward the serious, such as photographs documenting domestic violence.
