Head west into the foothills of Denver. Among the amazing sights are the Red Rock Amphitheater; Bear Creek Canyon; Lookout Mountain, site of Buffalo Bill Cody's grave; and Golden, home of the Coors Brewery.
While in the Denver area, follow Horace Greeley's famous advice and "go west"–even if it is just for the day. The first sight along the way is Red Rock Park, home to a natural amphitheater flanked by two 400-foot sandstone formations. The Red Rock Amphitheater is a popular venue for both performers and audiences because of its nearly perfect acoustics and beautiful mountain setting. Continue along Bear Creek Canyon–an old pioneer stage coach route–to Evergreen, known as the "blue spruce capital of the world." Then travel to Bergan Park and on to the top of Lookout Mountain, the site of Buffalo Bill Cody's final resting place. From Lookout Mountain, take the old "Lariot Trail" to Golden, home of the Coors Brewery and the Colorado School of Mines, and then head back to Denver.
