Molly Brown House
: Michelin's recommendations
Made famous by a Broadway musical and an Oscar-nominated 1964 movie, the "unsinkable" Molly Brown experienced new popularity after the 1998 movie Titanic. Visits to her home surged as well. Guided tours (60min) of the 7,700sq ft sandstone house (1889, William Lang) offer a glimpse into Denver's Gilded Age through the prism of this remarkable woman. In spring 1912, having raised two children and separated from her wealthy miner husband, Brown boarded the ill-fated Titanic. First as the liner was sinking and later aboard the rescue ship, Carpathian, she tried to bring order to chaos. She subsequently organized relief efforts for survivors. Brown ran for US Congress three times-twice before women were granted the right to vote.
