Sunset Crater Volcano National Monument Interesting : Michelin's recommendations

A 1,000ft-high cinder cone, which erupted in 1064, is surrounded by hundreds of acres of black lava flows and cinders, out of which sprouts an improbable pine forest. A 1mi trail skirts the base of the volcano. You cannot climb Sunset Crater itself, but trails access smaller, nearby cinder cones, including Lenox Crater (1mi round-trip).
