Tarantula Steam Train Interesting : Michelin's recommendations

Bibendum
With the oldest "puffer-belly" locomotive in the US (c.1896), the fully restored Tarantula pulls a chain of Victorian coaches and open-air cars on a 75min, 21mi ride between the Stockyards and suburban Grapevine. Passengers may visit craftspeople at the Grapevine Heritage Center or attend tastings offered by award-winning wineries on Grapevine's historic Main Street. The trip is especially popular in spring and fall.

    Pros

Nice train ride from Grapevine to the Ft Worth stock yard and back. Fun for the kids.

    Cons

The steam locomotive was taken out of service in about 2009. They now use a vintage diesel engine and the service is known as the Grapevine Vintage Railway.
