A division of The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, this spectacular collection showcases 17-19C American decorative arts with 5,000 objects of furniture, ceramics, silver, paper, glass, textiles and paintings. It is located in Bayou Bend (1927, John F. Staub), the Neo-Palladian-style former estate of governor's daughter Ima Hogg (1882-1975). On display are a silver sugar bowl crafted by Paul Revere, colonial portraits by John Singleton Copley and Charles Willson Peale, and furniture by John Townsend. Surrounding the home are 14 acres of woodlands and eight formal gardens.
