Male pirates are now joined by female sirens, who are part muse, part seductress and part pirate. Directed and choreographed by Kenny Ortega (of Dirty Dancing fame), the new show is a modern pop musical with singing, dancing, feats of amazing strength, pyrotechnics and sound. Ortega claims that ancient Greece's legendary sirens were his inspiration for the storyline; in any case, the production's contemporary sirens and hefty shipmates and bucanneers provide plenty of allure.
