The 3,000-ton Scorpion-more officially, the Soviet Foxtrot-class submarine Povodnaya Lodka B-427-is moored next to the Queen Mary. Nearly all of this 1972 diesel-electric sub (decommissioned in 1994) is open for tours, including the forward and aft torpedo rooms, officers' and seamen's quarters, sonar room, control room, galley and engine compartments. The tour includes video introductions to the Scorpion and to the history, mystery and lore of submarines as seen through the eyes of Cold War-era American and Soviet sailors. Inside passageways are cramped; flat shoes are recommended.
