The city's oldest and largest open-air market sits on the ground floor of the Homer Laughlin Building (1897), which once housed an office for American architect Frank Lloyd Wright. The ground floor, originally a department store, was transformed into the market it is today in 1917. While the exterior has remained the same, the interior is now a cavernous open space, brightened with vintage neon signs. Thirty-eight multicultural merchants sell everything from farm-fresh produce and seafood to legumes and deli meats to cut flowers and take-out food. The market is a favorite of downtown employees and foot-weary visitors looking for a quick bite.
