Anchoring the avenue's western end near Beverly Hills, the massive, seven-story building (1975, Cesar Pelli) sheathed in cobalt-blue glass quickly acquired the local nickname "The Blue Whale." In 1988, its hexagonal green glass annex, known as "The Green Turtle," expanded the center to encompass some 1.2 million sq ft of showrooms for the interior design trade, making it one of the West Coast's most important shopping destinations for design professionals and connoisseurs. The 14-acre campus now contains 30 showrooms featuring 2,100 product lines, as well as an outpost of the Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA), two Wolfgang Puck restaurants and a theater.
