These five mirrored-glass, 35-story cylindrical towers put LA on the map in 1976 as a center of post-Modern architecture. Since then they've appeared in numerous futuristic films, including Ridley Scott's classic Blade Runner (1982). Designed by John Portman, the complex forms a city unto itself, allowing conventioneers and other business travelers to be in LA without ever having to step foot outside. The mall-like, six-level inner atrium is composed of several levels of shops, restaurants and meeting places. You don't have to be a guest of the hotel to take a ride on the glass-enclosed elevators that rise up the side of the building. They offer incredible views of downtown and the Los Angeles Basin.
