UCR / California Museum of Photography : Michelin's recommendations

Founded in 1973, this museum of photographic art and technology occupies a former Kress dime store (1929). A highlight of the museum's holdings is the Keystone-Mast Collection of 350,000 stereographic negatives dating from 1870-1940, reputedly the largest extant collection of this early form of photography. Examples from the collection are on public display. Other exhibits trace the artistic and technological development of photography from its invention in 1837 to the present. Particularly suited to children is the Interactive Gallery (upper level), where hands-on displays demonstrate color, light, perception and other aspects of vision.
