Follow the covert entry located off an alley, pass through a nondescript brick façade, and find yourself in the bygone supper club era, paying tribute to jazz great Bix Beiderbecke. This wide-open, bi-level dining room exudes fanciful charm with lofty columns, mahogany paneling, and a baby grand. Lull at the bar where tenders sate with much shaking and stirring. Then sweep up the stairs and into a picturesque booth. Tuxedo-clad servers enhance the throwback tone, reciting-maybe to the backdrop of jazz music-a carte of revived classics like steak tartare; homemade mozzarella wrapped in prosciutto; and local albacore tuna with fried green tomatoes, Padron pepper relish, and tonnato sauce. For all their highbrow efforts, they still make a great burger.
