Word on the street is that Khan Toke offers the most unique Thai in SF. Surely this isn't a stretch given that guests relinquish their shoes at the door as is customary; and the "House's" décor screams authenticity by way of low carved tables frilled with diners seated on floor cushions, dangling their legs in sunken wells beneath. Wood paneling and carvings adorn the walls and faithful artifacts complete the exotic backdrop. In the same vein, diners can look forward to classic, shareable fare like sur rong hai (deliciously tender beef tips marinated in tamarind and finished with cilantro); gaeng kheaw wan (spicy green chicken curry with potatoes, sweet basil, and lush coconut); and moo ga prou (pork sautéed with scallions and splashed with chili sauce).
