R & G Lounge has been a longtime Chinatown fave for Cantonese food. The space is clean, while the service is a bit better than mediocre. Sure the décor is dated and the dropped ceiling of beige ribbons is rather strange, but really who's looking up when delicacies (like tender, falling-off-the-bone honey spare ribs glazed in a sweet and tangy sauce) await down, on your plate? Tanks of fish signal fresh seafood and fittingly, their signature dish is salt & pepper crab. At lunch, the wood-paneled den downstairs is crammed with families and businessmen. Find them chowing on fresh mixed vegetables delicately stir-fried in garlic sauce; or lamb sautéed with leeks in a mildly-spiced, aromatic gravy of ginger and garlic, teamed with steamed bao .
