Thankfully, the entrance to Saison is in the back covered patio, alongside the cooking hearth and dining counter that faces its embers. Stopping here to sip a glass of sparkling wine is de rigueur. Inside, the small, white dining room has vaulted ceilings, blue-cushioned banquettes, and a wall of windows overlooking that warming hearth. Still, its real focal point is the view into the exhibition kitchen, and perhaps the lucky few who reserved far enough in advance to score that chef's table amid the action. The service staff is not only polished but has a pleasant sense of humor that adds to the enjoyment of every affluent, well-dressed foodie here. The talented kitchen makes every dish a near-masterpiece through superb ingredients and precise technique. Memorable meals here may awaken the palate with a shooter of wheatgrass soda with sour oxalis root and leaves, perhaps followed by a wow-inducing base of creamy cauliflower mousse topped with a custardy lobe of Fort Bragg sea urchin and quenelle of smoked sturgeon caviar. Expect that cooking hearth to appear on the plate, as in the hearth-smoked tuna belly with tangy caper berries, earthy artichokes, and zesty Meyer lemon vinaigrette.

      Pros

      Very expensive for quality and quantity, a pretty place full of pedantic people attending. See reservations policies and you don`t will go. I misspend my money, there are another restautants in SF, not so expensive and better.

      Pros

      The way the restaurant is setup is unusual (e.g., kitchen as a focus point, wood fire, etc.) and that makes it interesting. Food looks good.

      Cons

      Emphasis seems to be more on the look of the food than the taste unfortunately and food tends to be over salted. I'm writing this review less than a week after and I need to look at the photos I've taken to remember what I had... not a good sign.
