Slow Club is one of those Mission restaurants that makes you work for it. But you'll want to score that parking spot, or wait for brunch, because a meal at Slow Club is worth it. The restaurant itself is minimally dressed and industrial, with a small open kitchen and sidewalk patio for sun-soaked days. While the food is not contrived or pretentious, it shows consistent and delicious Californian fare crafted from fresh and local ingredients. A seasonal menu may reflect grilled flatbread with sheep's milk mozzarella, roasted tomato sauce, and applewood-smoked ham; followed by berbere-spiced marinated beef skewers served over fluffy quinoa with caramelized turnips and carrots. A yummy butterscotch pecan pie with whipped cream makes for a stellar finale.
