This 14-acre complex, with paved streets and a running trolley, evokes life in San Jose around the turn of the century. The park comprises some two dozen historic homes and shops, a third of which are re-creations; the remainder were relocated from their original sites. Two or three shops are open each day on a rotating schedule and staffed by docents.Centered on a grassy shaded plaza, the complex is notable for its 115ft reproduction of the San Jose Electric Tower, a fanciful metal-beamed pyramid of street lights; and the H.H. Warburton Doctor's Office, with its medical and dental paraphernalia. Other highlights include the Print Shop, where traditional typesetting and printing techniques are demonstrated, and a brick reproduction of the city's Chinese Temple, featuring an elaborately carved Cantonese wooden altar from the original 1880s temple.
