Atop 6,875ft Kitt Peak is the world's largest collection of optical telescopes, funded by the National Science Foundation and managed by a consortium of 29 universities. Tours (1hr) begin at the visitor center and canvass a mind-boggling array of observatories, one of them 18 stories tall. An evening stargazing program (by reservation) includes dinner and a 3hr astronomy program.
