This park, en route to the Island in the Sky, was named for a herd of wild horses once corralled and forgotten on this isolated point 2,000ft above the Colorado River. All of the equines died of thirst within view of the river. Some consider the sunset views from this point, light tracing across the multi-hued sandstone canyons, cliffs and mesas, to be among the most dramatically beautiful in all the Canyonlands.

Petit parc d'État, Dead Horse Point reste un passage obligé : une vue unique sur le plateau de Canyonlands, le Colorado en contre-bas et à l'est les La Sal Moutains termine se paysage grandiose. Osez le levé du soleil ! à consulter les photographies de David Muench.
