Make sure you take time to visit one of the old Chinese houses for which Hoi An is justly famous, such as the well preserved Quan Thang at 77 Tran Phu, which is open to the public. These old merchants’ houses are long and narrow, with two doors, one opening onto the street, the other onto the river. The houses consist of three sections: the shop to the front; the sitting room, inner courtyard and well to the centre; and a room where goods were stored to the rear.
