Lang Son
: Michelin's recommendations
Lang Son is the perfect base for an excursion to China (visa available in Hanoi) or a trip to the mountains of northeastern Vietnam. Partially destroyed during the conflict between China and Vietnam in 1979, the town has nonetheless retained some colonial buildings and an interesting pagoda (Pagoda of the Immortals). It’s also worth taking some time to browse the town’s markets (Cho Ky Lua or Cho Dong Kinh), with their attractive stalls of Chinese knick-knacks.
