Sapa
: Michelin's recommendations
An old hill station once frequented by French colonists, Sapa is now a popular base for hikes into the mountains which surround the town and which separate Vietnam from China. Footpaths lead across soft green rice paddies dominated by some of the highest mountains in the country, culminating with Phan Si Pan at an altitude of 3 143m. Don’t miss the market or the weekly fair in Sapa, where you can admire the colourful costumes of the locals who come to the market from Sapa’s neighbouring villages.
