Son La : Michelin's recommendations
Make sure you visit Son La on market day so that you can stock up on local products and regional crafts. Rice is grown at the end of the valley by the Thais, one of the province’s ethnic minorities; manioc and bananas are planted elsewhere. To learn more about the region and the different minorities which live here, take time to visit the town’s old prison, where Viet Minh soldiers were once imprisoned in inhumane conditions, and which is now home to a small Museum of Local Art and Traditions.
