Big Mountain (“Nui Lon” in Vietnamese), which the Grande Corniche road skirts around along the coast, rises to the north of Vung Tau, above beaches dotted with the occasional restaurant and bar which make a pleasant stop. As you leave Bai Truoc, don’t miss Bach Dinh, a fine mansion dating from the very end of the 19C, and residence of the former French President, Paul Doumer. Head inside to admire the remarkable interior and the splendid view.
