The small villages dotted around the nam Vat valley between Moc Chau and Yen Chau consist of bamboo stilt houses covered with a thatch roof and fronted by a veranda where the women carry out their daily tasks. Mainly inhabited by the Black Thai people, these largely identical villages are accessible via bamboo bridges which span the river.
